โครงสร้าง (S. + had + V.3)
1. ใช้เมื่อมีเหตุการณ์ 2 อย่างในอดีต อย่างหนึ่งเกิดก่อนอีกอย่างหนึ่ง
เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดก่อนใช้ Past Perfect
เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดภายหลังใช้ Past Simple
Anong had learned English before she went to England. อนงค์เรียนภาษาอังกฤษก่อนไปประเทศอังกฤษ
When we got to the field, the football match had already started. เมื่อเราไปถึงสนามนั้น การแข่งขันฟุตบอลได้เริ่มขึ้นแล้ว
I didn't go to the cinema because I had already seen the film. ผมไม่ไปดูหนัง เพราะผมดูหนังเรื่องนั้นมาแล้ว
I had lost my pen and I was unable to do the exercises. ผมทำปากกาหาย ผมจึงไม่สามารถทำแบบฝึกหัดได้
He had unlocked the door , there was nothing to prevent you from going out. เขาไขกุญแจประ
